FAQ
How many sessions will I need?
The only scientific-based prediction of the amount of sessions a person will need to remove a tattoo is done using the Kirby-Desai scale. In summary, the same tattoo can be done on the same part of the body of two different people and yet take a different amount of sessions to remove.
Why do you only treat black ink?
A majority of tattoos consist of black ink alone. Black ink is the most predictable ink color to treat to completion, as well as the most cost-effective to treat as a business. This is because Q-switched lasers, which have successfully treated black ink for decades, are multiple times less expensive than picosecond lasers. Picosecond lasers absolutely treat colored ink more successfully than Q-switched lasers. But its effectiveness on black ink being superior to Q-switched lasers is debatable. The cost of the picosecond laser is reflected in the price of its sessions. The lower cost of a Q-switched laser is reflected in our prices.
Do you have plans to treat colored ink in the future?
Currently, we do not have plans to treat colored ink. This is our business model of choice, and there are plenty of other businesses that have picosecond lasers that you can consult with.
Is full removal of my tattoo(s) guaranteed?
Unfortunately, no practice can guarantee full removal of a tattoo, and that is explicitly stated in the consent form. The most common reasons for this are:
1) Some tattoos appear to be black but are actually mixed with colors such as indigo that our laser cannot treat
2) There is scar tissue (from the tattooing process itself, or from previous laser or non-laser tattoo removal attempts) that prevent the laser from reaching the ink. Scar tissue is not always visible but may still be present.
Our goal is to get you as close to full removal as possible with the technology we provide.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Yes. We won't sugarcoat it like most websites that say "it hurts as much as getting a tattoo." The truth is, it hurts more when using the settings that will actually make a treatment effective. Lidocaine cream is offered for an additional cost. We use a contact-cooling method to partially numb the area immediately prior to treatment. We have determined through clinical experience that this method provides the best pain relief.
